VARDAN: BROADENING HORIZONS

The entire focus of Vardan’s service operations is the poorest of the poor in the rural areas . To serve the rural society is the guiding principle, the vision, the mission and the driving philosophy of Vardan. But soon Vardan realized the necessity of taking urban patients too in its fold. In the urban areas too either the facilities are just not available or wherever available, they are costly and beyond the reach of poor and middle class people.Vardan Eye Hospital decided to address the medical needs of this segment of patients also.

With a little fee charged at the rate of Rs. 10.00 (US cents 25 only), a patient visiting Vardan Eye Hospital is provided full OPD facility including Refraction..

NECESSITY OF ADVANCE TREATMENT FACILITIES

In our Country the number of patients with retina disease are increasing day by day, and it is a matter of great concern.

This is further aggravated by the largest growing diabetic population. In India there is world’s largest 33 million diabetic population and it will be swelling to 50 million by the year 2020. Dr. Pran Nath Nagpal, the noted Retina-Vitreo surgeon of India, says that 60% of diabetics develop diabetic retinopathy to some degree. It will be impossible to face the challenge if we are going to depend totally on existing facilities alone.

There is a demographic change in India due to the betterment in health care services. Nearly 100 million population will be of aged persons who are bound to suffer with the Age Related Macular Degeneration problem in eyes in the coming years. Thus, the need for treatment of retinal diseases is bound to increase day by day.

Former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has also cautioned that retinopathy was looming as a major healthcare problem and has urged for rapid expansion of retinal training and research in ophthalmic profession beside education, screening and expanding the treatment facilities for public at large.

In Western U.P., we have neither Governmental nor Private Hospital or clinic for Retina treatment (except Private Clinics at Ghaziabad & Meerut). Keeping the above facts in view Vardan Seva Santhan has put up a Unit of Advance Treatment for Retina in this Charitable Hospital to cater to the need of poor living in remote villages and small towns.

KEEPING THE ABOVE FACTS IN VIEW VARDAN SEVA SANSTHAN HAS PUT UP RETINA TREATMENT FACILITIES AS A SEPERATE UNIT .

RETINA CENTRE
